When it comes to my Song Notes website & lesson library, one of the things I'm most proud of is my collection of free tools to help folks visualize and hear tricky aspects of guitar & music theory. Today, I'm excited to unveil a brand new web tool. Say hello to Tempo Timer – part metronome, part drum machine, part beat visualizer... and much more! Here's a video tour walking you through this tool, where I demonstrate the various ways you can put it to use with just a few clicks: Of course, each individual feature in this tool is by no means novel. There are plenty of free metronomes & web-based drum machines out there. Likewise, tap-tempo utilities are a dime a dozen. What makes Tempo Timer unique is how each of the features fits together. You can set a beat (by tapping, clicking your keyboard, or using your mouse)... and that's just the beginning. You can also set a time signature, select from a few different drumming styles (with different rhythmic accents), and also see the beat visualized in a few different ways: Give it a try here – set a beat and play or practice anything you've been working on! Don't Miss My Other Guitar Tools! Fret Monster - Interactive fretboard map! See the patterns behind every scale in any key. I've been improving this tool for more than 10 years, with various tunings and non-guitar instruments also available. Key Master - See and hear the notes, chords, scales used in each of the most common keys. Includes audio examples of the notes & chords that belong to each key, with example chord progressions from famous songs included. Capo Captain - An easy way to calculate key & chord combinations for any capo location. Helpful if you want to use a capo to play along with someone and need assistance figuring out chords & capo positions that will work. Jam Box - Play-along practice tracks, showing chord changes on screen, to help make practice more fun. Blank Tabs - Free PDF templates to download, print, and write out your own guitar tabs. Your Feedback is Welcome! As I note in my video tour, this is version 1.0 of Tempo Timer. There are tons of features & improvements I want to add eventually, which will assuredly come with time. If you use it and have any feature requests, let me know! I'm always eager to hear from my audience about things they wish any of these tools could do. Thank you all – and I'll see you in the next lesson ✌️ David Browse all my lessons at songnotes.net |
