Happy Friday, my friends! Today I want to share a handful of July 4th inspired lessons in honor of the 250th birthday of USA. Also – don't miss my brand new Ramble On tutorial, where I teach the full Led Zeppelin song (following up on my recent lesson teaching the bassline). Happy 4th! –David HAPPY 250th 🇺🇸 First, I wanted to share this roundup of lessons I've made that may spark the spirit of Independence Day celebration here in the USA. Any bonus downloads I've made for each tutorial below are available from each lesson's webpage on my Song Notes website. America by Simon and Garfunkel Learn this 1960s folk rock classic! A beautiful guitar arrangement, combined with their amazing vocal harmonies... you can't beat it. America the Beautiful – Soulful Lead Guitar Learn this classic melody in two styles! I teach the chords & melody on an acoustic, and then teach you the same melody played up-the-neck on an electric guitar. A looped video jam track is available as well, for you to strum or jam with! Star Spangled Banner Lead Guitar Practice If you want to work on basic lead guitar melody using a very common song, this lesson is one I'd recommend. I teach the familiar Star Spangled Banner in the keys of C, G, D, A, and E. If you want a practical way to apply the most common major scales in open position, don't miss this lesson! Audio jam tracks included. American Girl by Tom Petty I learned today, this song was recorded on July 4th 1976! One of my favorite songs, taught in two different styles. Here's my fingerstyle arrangement: Here's my older lesson, where I teach an acoustic strum-along version of the full song: LESSON #626 ▶️ Click to view free video lesson Next, I’m happy to finally share my followup to lesson #625, where I taught a strummed version of Led Zeppelin’s Ramble On bassline. In this new lesson, I’ll tackle the rest of the song. Instead of showing a 1:1 recreation of what Jimmy Page plays, I’ll demonstrate a few easier ways to play most sections of this song. This allows us mortal guitarists to have fun with this song, and even sing along while strumming! This one is great fun, and I’m excited to share it with you.
Thanks and Enjoy! To everyone here in the USA, here's wishing you a great holiday weekend. Have fun with friends and/or family, and I hope your dog doesn't get as stressed as mine from all the fireworks. In the next few weeks I'm curious to dive into any World Cup-inspired songs... if any come to mind (Take Me Home Country Roads, Wonderwall, etc) – let me know! David |

Let me begin today's newsletter by wishing a Happy Father's Day to all! In honor of all the Dads out there, past present or future! In honor of Father's Day, I'd love to share a collection of guitar lessons I've made for songs that are Dad-inspired in some way. Incredibly catchy, but also "the saddest song...

Practice notes, percussion jam track, and bonus videos also available! Using this approach, you end up with a...
Hey there, friends – I'm excited to share TWO new lessons with you today! They both tackle the all-time classic Love Me Tender, but take very different approaches. Take your pick, or learn 'em both! –David LESSON #623Sing & Strum (Key of D) ▶️ Click to watch lesson #623 This first lesson teaches you to sing & strum Love Me Tender as it's heard in the Elvis recording. I'll start by teaching you the chords, measure-by-measure... then shift into the world of alternating bass notes. There are a...
